Kutin – Menora
The 6 pieces present a selection of improvised material that was
performed and arranged by Peter Kutin between Dez.05 and June
06. The tracks were edited on a rudimentary basis only and then
combined in the album. This lack of constraint during the production
process has a very positive effect on the character of the
record.
There is nothing that sounds uptight and if there is construction
you don´t recognise it as such. The tracks drift along, create a
warm, homogenic, melancholic athmosphere, far away from
sterile laptopmusic.
One could call it candid shots, but in this case the tracks create
not only a sonic instant, but also lead you somewhere, they keep
the listener in suspense. The pieces mostly develop quite slow
but never become boring. It´s made clear that music is the art of
handling time.
Partialtunes appear, become more and begin to sparkle while
warm, slowly moving bassfrequencies start to fill up the space;
field recordings are used in a way that the listener starts to
associate or maybe even remembers concrete experiences.
